Residents were so alarmed by a strange noise in York early this morning, they called the fire service.
But the source of the noise remains a mystery.
A fire crew went to try to locate the source on Landing Lane at 1.36am.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Acomb crews responded to reports of a strange noise coming from a water outlet near the river.
“Crews inspected the area and nothing was located. This resulted in a false alarm.”
