A North Yorkshire village is celebrating after being awarded National Lottery funding to improve vital play equipment.
The Sheriff Hutton Playground Committee celebrated with a community open morning this month, after being awarded £19,220 in National Lottery funding to support the replacement and improvement of vital play equipment.
The small committee have used the funding to replace a large piece of equipment, with an even larger and more challenging piece called Burundi.

Henry, from Sheriff Hutton, said, “It is great for climbing and it is really fun. We voted at school on our favourite design!”
The playground is a much loved area, used by locals and those from further afield. It is hoped that the new equipment will allow children and their families to play and socialise, safely, in a positive environment.
A spokesperson for the Sheriff Hutton Playground Committee said, “Thank you to National Lottery players for making our project possible.
“We’re making a huge difference to the lives of Sheriff Hutton families, thanks to National Lottery funding.”
