Here’s why giant walking trees are coming to York

Towering tree giants are set to take over the city centre.

York Bid have announced a special celebration for Halloween – as Treemendous comes to York on Saturday 25 October.

Standing at a staggering 9 feet tall, these spooky characters will bring their woodland magic to the Coppergate Centre courtyard. This immersive and interactive event invites families, children, and visitors of all ages to meet the larger-than-life characters up close.

The event is a Purple Flag initiative, which aims to create vibrant, family-friendly experiences in York City Centre to champion a safe, welcoming, and thriving city for residents and visitors alike.

Carl Alsop, operations manager at York BID, said: “We’re so excited to bring Treemendous to York this October.

“Events like this encourage people to visit York, support our brilliant local businesses, and enjoy some Halloween fun together.”

Treemendous is at Coppergate Centre on Saturday 25 October, with performances at 2pm, 3:15pm, and 4:30pm. It’s a free event, with no tickets needed.
