Eight York City fans were arrested at the game against Hartlepool on Saturday, according to Cleveland Police.
One Hartlepool fan was also detained.
Two were arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly and one on suspicion of trying to enter the ground while intoxicated.
Another was arrested on suspicion of possession of a flare and one on suspicion of a verbal homophobic public order offence.
Four more fans were arrested at Hartlepool railway station.
There were some allegations that Cleveland Police used more forces than necessary:
It follows the trouble at City’s home fixture against Hartlepool in January 2024.
In a statement, York City FC said: “York City Football Club are aware of a number of arrests made in Hartlepool on Saturday involving York supporters.
“We will speak with the relevant authorities and will investigate the incidents.
“Until we have more details, the club will be making no further comment.
“We will communicate more once appropriate.”
Before the game, Hartlepool United FC, York City FC and York City Supporters Trust made a joint statement saying: “We urge all supporters to represent their clubs in the right way – back your team, respect the citizens of Hartlepool and fellow fans, and enjoy the game responsibly.”
On the day, Cleveland Police put in place a dispersal order to try to counteract any trouble.
City took 775 fans to Victoria Park, Hartlepool’s ground, who watched City win 1-0.
