Woman forced her way into York sheltered housing and stole money from owner

Police are hunting for a woman who stole money from a resident in York sheltered housing.

The burglary happened at about 9.30pm yesterday (Monday) in Majorie Waite Court, Evelyn Crescent, Clifton.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “It involved a female suspect barging past the homeowner into their property, and stealing cash.

“The victim was, thankfully, uninjured.

“We’re particularly appealing for information about any sightings of the suspect prior to or after the incident, and encouraging residents in the area to check their CCTV and video doorbell systems.”

The suspect is described as a white, aged around 40 years old, with long dark hair.
