A wanted man has been arrested and charged with rape by North Yorkshire Police.
Police were hunting for Clifford Ian Church, 62, for a number of weeks.
He is from Harrogate with connections to York. Police believed he was on the run in Leeds.
Tonight, North Yorkshire Police issued this update: “In August and September, we issued various appeals to help track down a man in his 60s from Harrogate who was wanted for breaching his probation conditions and in connection with a rape investigation.
“The investigation team worked closely with West Yorkshire Police as they believed that he was on the run in West Yorkshire.
“On Friday night (19 September) he was arrested by our colleagues over in Bradford.
“Following his arrest, he was brought back to North Yorkshire for questioning and last night he was charged with rape, assault and false imprisonment.
“He was remanded in custody and will appear before York Magistrates’ Court in the morning.”
