Video: North Yorkshire crews drafted in as mill used for filming shows like Peaky Blinders is gutted by fire

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue is involved in an operation to fight  huge fire at Dalton Mill in Keighley in West Yorkshire.

The mill is in an industrial area of Keighley, with many businesses, including garages, car dealerships and manufacturing units nearby.

A wide cordon has been set up.

Police say Dalton Lane will be closed for at least the remainder of today; Keighley’s town mayor has described the fire as “devastating”

More than 100 firefighters have been tackling the blaze.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “There is a lot of smoke in the area and residents are advised to keep doors/windows closed.

“People should avoid travelling through the area.”

The mill is a filming location and has appeared in Peaky Blinders, Downton Abbey, North and South and Gunpowder.

And this video was released by West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue at 3:45pm showing the building gutted by the blaze

WYFRS said: “We have 20+ appliances in attendance at a fire in Dalton Mill in Keighley

“100% of building involved in fire.

“Hose reel jets & aerial ladder platform in use.

“Appliances from neighbouring brigades (North Yorkshire) are also in attendance.

“Partner agencies in attendance – Police, Ambulance, Yorkshire Water and Environment Agency.”
