The owner of a BMW returned to their car to find this.
It was parked on Bridge Street, Helmsley, and it happened between on Wednesday (15 October) between 5.30pm and 6.15pm.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We’re appealing for information about deliberate damage caused to a blue BMW car parked in Helmsley.
“Significant damage has been caused to the vehicle including the windscreen which was smashed with a rock.
“Police are appealing for any information regarding the damage and asking residents to review any privately owned CCTV or doorbell footage that may have captured the incident.”
