Police called in after motorbike torched in York

Firefighters tackled two fires thought to have been started deliberately in York overnight.

At 7.50pm, crews from York and Acomb responded to a report of smoke seen coming from a building on St John’s Walk. This was found to be a small fire in the open, which they put out.

Later, at 10.57pm, a crew from York went to another fire in the open at Rosemary Place. On arrival they found a motorbike well alight.

After extinguishing the fire, they passed details to the police.
