Family owned Yorkshire Trading Co opened its doors for the first full day, today – Friday 25 November 2022.
The new Goodramgate shop has taken just three weeks to complete, from receiving the keys to opening.
The doors officially opened yesterday after 3pm and staff said there was quite a queue of eager shoppers waiting.
The shop is also looking to recruit additional full and part-time staff.
We revealed earlier this month that the former Bonmarché store was to become part of the famous Yorkshire variety and discount brand.
Its roots can be traced back to a corner shop in Hull and it has branches across the North.
However, until now, the nearest of its stores to York were in Selby and Malton.
According to its website, the company has more than “10,000 products in store and online“.
The range includes everything from toys to haberdashery, pets to gardening, cleaning and home maintenance, kitchenware and soft furnishings.
