York is soon to get a new Japanese restaurant.
We reported earlier this year that Birmingham-based company Hatsu One Ltd and its director Yu Wang had applied for an alcohol licence at 71 Low Petergate, for a ‘licensed restaurant, offering a range of alcoholic products to complement to Japanese inspired cuisine.’
Now, Hatsu is on track to open its doors next week.

The restaurant will operate over two floors, and inside the interior looks sleek and stylish with a modern feel.
It’s in its final stages of getting ready to launch, with the aim to open next week.
Hatsu will join a long list of vibrant and popular eateries on Low Petergate, joining the ranks of places like Days Cafe, Forest, Pho York, Fat Hippo, and Cicchetti Lounge.
71 Low Petergate is a Grade II listed building, and has a history in York dating back to the early 1600s when it was once home to the city’s famous printer Thomas Gent.

In more modern times, it’s been home to Georgina’s Café, Mr P’s Curious Tavern, and then The Tea Palace which shut suddenly in September 2022. The building has been empty since then – until now.
Hatsu is also currently hiring for several positions, including cocktail bartenders, waiting staff, and kitchen staff. If you wish to apply, email a copy of your CV to seventhpointbusiness@hotmail.com or apply inside.
More details about Hatsu will be coming soon – watch this space!
