First look: Inside York’s new city centre supermarket

York’s newest supermarket has just opened – in the revamped home of a former food store.

YorkMix revealed last September that the Co-op was planning to open a store in Stonebow House.

And it opened this weekend in the restored unit that was once Heron Foods, before it closed in 2016.

Open every day from 6am to 10pm, the Stonebow Co-op has a fairly typical range of produce, including fruit and veg, fresh meat and fish, a selection of freshly baked bread and patisserie items, and a selection of wine, beer and other alcohol.

There are a number of self-service tills alongside the staffed tills at the back.

Have a look for yourself!
