York station exit set to reopen after a wall fell down

The exit and entrance to York train station, that had to close after a wall fell down, should reopen this week.

A wall, which is part of a Victorian building, collapsed and shed masonry across the cycle and footpath that leads from the long stay car park to Lowther Terrace and Holgate road.

As well as access to the station it provides a safe route for pedestrians and cyclists which avoids Blossom street and links the city centre to the Acomb area.

Network Rail told YorkMix that work on repairs had been completed and were being checked and given the green light.

As soon as that is done the route will open again, hopefully at some stage this week.
