Updated: Road reopens after police incident on York road

A key York road was closed by a police incident this morning.

Peasholme Green was taped off for hours. It has now reopened.

The road was cordoned off from the far end of the Black Swan pub and past the Hiscox building.

Also taped off was the Black Horse Lane passageway which leads past the Moxy hotel to the Hungate development.

There was a police guard at each of the four sides of the cordon. An ambulance is also at the scene.

The doctors at the Jorvik Gillygate Practice is still open.

Earlier, a North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said at 6.03am: “Emergency services are responding to an incident in the Peasholme Green area of York.

“As a result, the road is currently closed to all traffic.
