A malfunctioning car was causing a potential hazard to drivers on the A64 last night.
An Acomb fire crew responded to the incident near Grimston Lodge at 7.15pm.
A Jaguar had left the carriageway earlier in the day.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The car hazard lights were still flashing and causing a danger/distraction to other motorists.
“Crews gained entry to the vehicle and disconnected the battery until the arrival of vehicle recovery. E-draulic spreaders and small tools were used.”
