York crew called out after car catches fire on roundabout

A car caught fire on a busy roundabout in York today (Saturday).

Firefighters from Huntington were called to the incident on the A1237 outer ring road near Wigginton at 9.58am.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crew used one hose reel jet, breathing apparatus, small tools and edraulic cutters to extinguish the fire.

“They then moved the vehicle to the side of the road to allow traffic to pass.”

An engine fault was believed to have been the cause of the fire.
