Vital witness sought by police after York sex assault

Police are trying to track down this man as they believe he may be a vital witness in a sex assault investigation.

The man – who is NOT a suspect and has done nothing wrong – may have information that can help police.

The serious sexual assault happened at around 8.30pm Saturday 27 July and involved two men and a woman who went into private premises near Sainsbury’s on Blossom Street.

Police have previously appealed for witnesses to the incident.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Please contact us if you recognise the man pictured in the CCTV image or if you have any information that will assist our investigation.

“We must stress that the man in the image is a potential witness that could provide invaluable information that would assist our investigation.

“He is not being treated as a suspect.”
