Violence at North Yorkshire racecourse leaves four injured, one with fractured eye socket

Police are investigating an outbreak of violence at a North Yorkshire racecourse which left at least four people injured.

It happened at around 6.45pm last Saturday (18 May) at Thirsk Racecourse.

Officers say a number of parties were involved in the melee.

One of the victims was taken to hospital with a fractured eye socket. He has since been discharged.

Three men, aged between 19 and 21, have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and released under investigation while enquiries continue.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “As part of their investigation, detectives are urging anyone with information who has not yet spoken to us to get in touch.

“We’re particularly appealing for any video footage that may have captured the incident.”
