The show is directed and produced by Nik Briggs, with choreography from Damien Poole and musical direction from Jessica Viner.

At the heart of the story is Erin Childs as Dorothy, whose journey ‘over the rainbow’ introduces her to a trio of iconic friends: the Scarecrow, played by Flo Poskitt, the Tin Man played by Stu Hutchinson and the Cowardly Lion, played by Finn East.

The cast also features Carly Morton as Glinda the Good Witch and Emily Alderson as the Wicked Witch of the West.

Of course, no trip to Oz would be complete without Toto – brought to life in two special ways. Not only will audiences meet a beautifully crafted Toto puppet, puppeteered by Sarah Jackson, but at times the role will be played by Freddie the dog, the director’s own four-legged star.

Speaking ahead of the show, director Nik Briggs said: “The Wizard of Oz is one of the most loved stories ever told, and we can’t wait to share our version with the people of York.
