Police called to York bridge after man ‘jumps in water’

There was a ‘full water rescue turnout’ in York early this morning (Wednesday).

Emergency services were called to Ouse Bridge at 1.44am.

It came after a man was seen in the River Ouse.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “A full water rescue turnout in York which involves two appliances along with the water rescue boat capabilities responded to reports of a male seen jumping into the river.

“Upon our arrival the male was out of the water and left in hands of police.”

The response comes only five days after a man died after entering the Ouse.
