Police are urging parents to be vigilant after arson attacks on York allotments.
There have been a series of fires started in allotments in the South Bank area of the city.
Officers are investigating – and urging parents to play their part.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We are aware of issues with a group of youths committing arson and taking part in anti-social behaviour around the Scarcroft Road Allotments and Hospital Fields Allotments, York.
“Please could we ask for people with children that you are aware of where your children are on an evening.
“If they are taking lighters, cans of petrol out with them or return smelling of petrol, please address their dangerous behaviour.
“In the meantime, increased patrols are taking place in and around the areas concerned and robust action will be taken where necessary.”
Recent incidents saw a shed destroyed in an arson attack at Scarcroft Road allotments on Saturday 27 September.
And two sheds were destroyed after fires were started on the Hospital Fields Allotments last Friday (3 October).
