It’s been a popular destination for families for decades – and now you could own it for yourself.
Lightwater Valley near Ripon has gone on sale for £3 million.
The sale includes the 185 acre estate, rides, cafés and other attractions.
The listing on RightMove says: “An opportunity to take ownership of, and develop a long established theme park business in the heart of Yorkshire with planning for a significant scheme of complementary holiday accommodation.
“Lightwater Valley offers a full day out for the family, with the park presenting an array of themed areas and attractions throughout an expansive parkland setting, at the heart of which is a large lake surrounded by mature woodland.”

The details say the park makes around £5 million in revenue, and comes with a 99 year lease with 72 years to go.
The park was founded by Robert Staveley in 1969, beginning as a small pick-your-own fruit farm.
A lake was constructed, and proved so popular with visitors that the family adding an adventure playground and rides. It took on its modern theme park form in 1987.

Four years later, it opened The Ultimate, which was then the longest roller coaster in the world. After Covid, it never reopened and was demolished in 2023.
In 2021, the Brighton Pier Group bought Lightwater Valley. It made an initial payment of £4 million, with further payments of up to £1 million for the company’s entire share allocation.
Lightwater Valley attracts more than 230,000 visitors a year. It is being marketed by Newmark.
