Fire crews responded to a flare-up in a forestry area within the established control lines of the Langdale Moor incident.
Additionally, an unexploded ordnance (UXO) device was discovered, followed by a large explosion on the moorland.
For your safety and the safety of our crews, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue say please continue to avoid the area.
They are continuing to work closely with Forestry England to monitor the site.
The weather conditions today include:
• Mild temperatures & humidity
• Showers likely later in the day
• Strong gusts expected this afternoon
These conditions may increase the risk of further flare-ups. The teams will be monitoring moorland areas closely. If you’re affected by smoke, please follow public health advice to keep doors and windows closed.
