House blaze in York started deliberately, firefighters believe

Fire crews tackled a blaze at a York house that is believed to have been started deliberately.

Crews from York and Huntington went to the incident, on Salmond Road, Foxwood, at 6.12pm last night.

The fire was confined to the kitchen on the ground floor.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish and dampen down.

“The crew also used a thermal imaging camera and positive pressure ventilation fan to ventilate the premises.

“The cause of this fire is believed to have been deliberate.”
