Updated: Fire control team’s virtual charity ride in aid of Ukraine

Members of the Fire Control Team in North Yorkshire have been working towards a challenge of completing 2130 miles in a month

That is the distance from the Control Room in Northallerton to Mariupol.

They started on 21st April and have been rowing, running, cycling and walking, clocking up the miles any way they can.

A message on Twitter today said: “We did it!!! The Fire Control team completed the last mile of their virtual 2130 miles from Northallerton to Mariupol in Ukraine. Well done everyone you have done amazing!”

Group Manager, Bob Hoskins, told YorkMix Radio the money will be used to help a local charity fund a minibus to take essential supplies over to Ukraine.
