‘Fastest growing British supermarket’ coming to York city centre

More plans have been revealed about the food shop due to open at the Foss Islands retail park in York.

We reported last month that frozen foods giant Iceland was taking over the former Homesense store at the shopping centre.

Now it has emerged that this will be the city centre’s first branch of its Food Warehouse brand.

Described by the chain as ‘one of Britain’s fastest growing supermarkets’, the Food Warehouse opened a Clifton Moor store in 2019.

An Iceland spokesperson said: “The Food Warehouse combines the convenience of bulk buying with great value fresh, frozen and ambient food deals across more than 3,000 product lines.

“The store also offers exclusive ‘When It’s Gone, It’s Gone’ deals, on a great selection of homeware items.”

An application to rebrand the Homesense store as Food Warehouse is in with City of York Council.
