Driver rescued after his car leaves the road and gets wedged in a tree

This was the scene late last night as firefighters worked to reach a driver in a car wedged in a tree.

Emergency service crews were called out at 11.09pm to the A645 Weeland Road, Eggborough, near Selby.

An Audi car had left the road and ended up balancing in the tree. No other vehicle was involved.

Both Selby fire crews were called to the scene. They stabilised the vehicle using a ratchet strap and specialist Stab-Fast stabilisation equipment.

They then rescued the driver from the Audi using a triple extension ladder “and crew power”.

The man was taken to hospital by ambulance with a head injury.
