Yorkshire’s tastiest 10k is back!
The Malton 10k – aka Marathon Du Malton 10k – is returning on Sunday 21 September, offering contestants to eat and drink their way round the gourmet delights along the course.
YorkMix will be hosting once again and bringing lots of entertainment and encouragement throughout the day.
Inspired by the French Marathon du Medoc, the Malton 10k has crafted three unique race options to suit every participant.
The ‘Sans Arret’ is a timed traditional race for serious runners. For those who prefer a more relaxed approach, the ‘Le Classique’ fun run includes pit-stops for local treats. Finally, ‘L’escargot’ offers a no-pressure stroll, allowing attendees to truly savour the local food and meet the producers.
“The staggered starts allow for a truly festive atmosphere,” says Mark Brayshaw of Visit Malton, the race organiser.
“We’re seeing more and more runners complete the ‘Sans Arret’ and then join their friends and family for a more leisurely second go-around with ‘Le Classique’ or ‘L’escargot’ to enjoy the food.
“The town comes alive with market stalls, local brass bands, and incredible food-themed fancy dress costumes.”
The event is known for its creative costumes – runners and walkers have been spotted in everything from human-sized vegetable outfits to bunches of grapes and animal costumes.
The culinary highlights along the way feature traditional Yorkshire fare, such as roast beef and Yorkshire puddings, alongside locally produced wines, gin, and apple juice.
Participants can also sample game from the North York Moors, macarons, and vegan options from Malton’s own ToFoo.
Spectators can also enjoy the festivities, supporting from the Market Place side lines whilst enjoying live entertainment, a Sunday market, and street food.
