A York man has been arrested after police found drugs in a car travelling into the city on the A64.
They stopped a Nissan Qashqai yesterday lunchtime (Tuesday) after receiving intelligence that the vehicle was being used for criminal activities.
Officers searched the vehicle and its occupants, a man and a woman. They found a quantity of cocaine hidden in the woman’s clothing.
Both were arrested. The man, 33, was charged with offences including driving without a licence or insurance, possession of a Class A drug, and breaching bail.
The woman, 27, from Manchester, has been released with no further action taken.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Excellent work by our Intelligence Unit in providing critical information to our front line officers.
“This crucial part of policing enables our officers to be deployed to the right places to detect crime, make arrests, and keep our county safe.”
