The National League fixtures were released today – and York City fans face a few long trips at the start of next season.

City kick off with a home tie against Sutton United on Saturday 9 August.

Then it’s a run of away games as the Women’s Rugby World Cup fixtures take over at the LNER Community Stadium.

City travel down to Cornwall for the club’s longest ever journey – a fixture against Truro City on Saturday 16 August. That’s a a 782-mile round trip…

Then the Minstermen travel to Southend United, Woking and Yeovil Town in successive games.

The first Yorkshire derby of the season is on Saturday, 25 October, when the team head to FC Halifax Town. The reverse fixture takes place on Saturday, 21 February.

York City fixtures 2025/26

August
Saturday 9th August- Sutton United (H)

For the festive period, York City will see a run of two home games, against Truro on 20 December, as well as hosting Boston United on Boxing Day.

A Tuesday night game at Altrincham takes place on 30 December, before they kick off the new year with a trip down the A1 to face Boreham Wood.

The club also said City will not be participating in this season’s National League Cup.

Fans’ reaction

City fans had mixed reactions to the fixture programme.

One fan said on X: “Halifax away should be epic again!” – following City’s last-gasp efforts against Town in both fixtures last season.

Others were daunted by the scale of the early journeys. “Wow, how many miles in the first run of away matches!” one posted on Facebook.

Another said: “Good luck trying to book accommodation in Cornwall for August… silly prices quoted for a nights stay at the Premier Inn!”

Others said it gave an unfair advantage to rival teams that we had a run of away games. But it all works out in the end.

“After 14 league fixtures, roughly a third of the season, parity is achieved, 7 at home, 7 away. What goes round comes round,” a City fan wrote.
