Yellow weather warning for wind affects parts of North Yorkshire

It will be particularly windy to the west of our county this afternoon (Sunday, 15 December).

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for high winds running from noon till 5pm.

York is not affected but Ripon, Tadcaster and Sherburn-in-Elmet are all included.

The Met Office says: “Strong westerly winds may cause some difficult travel conditions on Sunday afternoon.”

It says:

  • Some short term loss of power and other services is possible
  • Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely.

But it will be mild, with temperatures up to 13°C in York this afternoon.
