A woman was taken to hospital after a crash on the A64 in York last night (Wednesday).
The road was closed westbound between the A1237 York turn off at Hopgrove roundabout and the A1079 Grimston Bar for four hours due to the serious collision.
Emergency services were called to the incident at 5.18pm.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews from Huntington, York and Acomb responded to a report of a multiple vehicle road traffic collision.
“On arrival crews found this to be a two-vehicle RTC with one driver medically trapped in their vehicle.
“Crews removed the door to the vehicle to allow paramedics to access the casualty and support her out the vehicle.”
The injured woman was taken to hospital suffering chest, back and neck pain.
Firefighters made the scene safe before handing it over to the police.
There were two miles of traffic traffic caught at the scene before being released by highways officers.
