Police are investigating an attack in York city centre which left a man with a broken nose.
It happened between 4am and 4.30am on Wednesday (6 November).
The victim had been talking to two men as he walked from The Drawing Board on New Street “although he wanted to leave their company,” police said.
The assault happened near to benches to the left of The Ivy in St Helen’s Square.
Police said: “They caught up with the victim and his female friend and said they were going to beat the s*** out of him.
“The suspect has punched the victim multiple times in the nose before the victim has managed to grab his wrist. The victim has suffered a broken nose.”
Descriptions have been issued of both attackers.
The first man is short, with blond receding hair, wearing a black leather jacket like a bar uniform, and had a protruding stomach.
The second man, who hit the victim, is tall, with light brown receding hair, and had glasses and a beard.
Police are asking for witnesses and for people in the area to check their CCTV for any footage around this time for the suspects.

This is the second assault near The Ivy in a few days. Yesterday we reported how two people were assaulted by a gang of teenagers close to the restaurant on Saturday night.
