Two flood alerts have been issued for York this evening (Friday).
It comes after another wet week, with Yorkshire being subject to constant rainfall and some snow.
The River Ouse is rising and is predicted to peak tomorrow morning.
The flood alerts, issued shortly after 5pm, are for:
The Environment Agency says: “River levels are rising on the upper River Ouse due to the recent mix of snow and rainfall.
“Further rainfall is forecast this evening (Friday). We will continue to monitor levels closely.
“Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water.”
The areas most at risk include: riverside footpaths and low-lying land in York and to the south as far as Naburn Lock, including Kings Staith, Queens Staith, and South Esplanade; and the tidal foreshore and agricultural land adjacent to the river in the Cawood, Kelfield, Wistow and Selby areas. .
According to the Viking Recorder, the River Ouse reached the top of its normal level of 1.9m at 5.30pm this evening.
It is forecast to rise to a peak of 2.87m by 8.45am tomorrow (Saturday) before dropping back again.
