Taxi driver suffers alleged racial abuse outside York restaurant

Police have launched an investigation after a taxi driver was allegedly racially abused in York city centre.

It happened outside the Tomahawk Steakhouse on Lendal between 9.30pm and 9.40pm on Saturday (6 September).

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “It is alleged that a male has punched a black Prius taxi and given racial abuse to the driver.

Where it happened

“We are appealing to see if anyone has witnessed this incident in the area.”

They also want to hear from anyone with video footage from CCTV, a phone or dashcam.
