A stretch of Hull Road in York is due to be resurfaced next week.
That will create inevitable disruption for road users along the route.
City of York Council say work on Hull Road between Tang Hall Lane and the Grimston Bar roundabout will run from Monday (15 September) and Tuesday 21 October.
No weekend working will be required and the road will be open at weekends.
On weekdays work will take place
- between 9.30am and 3pm – with lane closures
- between 8pm and 5am – with the road closed.
Affected route
Phase 1
Phase 1 of the works will be from the Grimston Bar roundabout to Tranby Avenue/ Field Lane roundabout. This will involve night-time closures every weekday from 15 September to 29 September. The road will close at 8pm each night and reopen at 5am the following morning, with lane closures in place as the day work takes place.
Phase 2
Phase 2 will involve work from the Tang Hall Lane traffic lights to Tranby Avenue /Field Lane roundabout. This will involve night-time closures on every weekday from 30 September to 15 October. The road will close at 8pm each night and reopen at 5am the following morning, with lane closures in place as the day work takes place.
Phase 3
Phase 3 will see resurfacing works on the Tranby Avenue/ Field Lane roundabout. This will involve night-time closures from 16-21 October. The road will close at 8pm each night and reopen at 5am the following morning. During the day the roundabout will be open, there may be times when lane closures could be required.
Buses will be escorted through the night-time road closures and emergency services will be able to get through the roadworks as needed. Users of the Park and Ride will be managed out of the closure and will need to follow a diversion down Osbaldwick Link Road.
Waste and recycling collections will be collected as normal. Please make sure that you put your bins and recycling out after 7pm the day before but before 7am on the day of your usual service.
A City of York Council spokesperson said: “While we are working to minimise disruption, delays are expected, so please plan ahead when making any journeys in the area during the works.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Residents and nearby businesses have already been alerted to the closures. Nearby businesses will remain open for business and access to them will be maintained.”
