The new Northern Monk tap room and street food venue is getting closer to opening in York.
The Northern Monk Refectory has revealed it will be opening its doors at the end of October this year, with an exact date to be announced.
It will open in the building which previously housed Forage, in Little Stonegate.
The ground floor will have a wall-to-wall bar, tasting room, and outdoor space, while the venue’s first floor will feature a bespoke dining space and three unique resident kitchens.
The 18 draft taps and two cask taps will pour a range of beers direct from their Leeds-based brewery as well as offerings from guest breweries from around the world.

The street food offering will feature three new resident concept kitchens from Supamarkets, a new concept from the team behind the likes of Leeds institutions Belgrave Music Hall, Ox Club and House of Fu.
These will include authentic NY style pizza slices and full pies from Yonkers, Japanese-inspired snacks from new House of Fu off-shoot Fu Express and vibrant tacos from Crudo Cantina.
Russell Bisset, co-founder of Northern Monk said: “Iconic cities, the freshest beers, incredible food partners, creating experiences that truly delight.
“That’s how we think about the roll out of our venues. Our next venture into York absolutely ticks all these boxes. We’re honoured to be opening in one of the UK’s tourist hot spots, a city rich in history and heritage.
“To be doing so in partnership with our good friends at Supamarkets is the icing on the cake. We’ve been working with the team behind Belgrave, House of Fu, and Project House since they first opened Belgrave 12 years ago, and we couldn’t ask for better people to collaborate with.
“Together, we’re bringing the very freshest of Northern beer and food under one roof, in a space designed to celebrate community, culture, and everything we love about the North.
“We can’t wait to welcome you to our York Refectory. Doors open soon, keep your eyes peeled.”
Simon Stevens, co-founder of Supamarkets said: “We’re super excited to finally be working in partnership with the guys from Northern Monk, especially in one of our favourite cities.
“We’re huge fans of the York food scene, we love the independent culture and amazing variety on offer. We can’t wait to be a part of it!”
Refectory York follows Northern Monk’s successful crowdfunding campaign to support its intention to become Europe’s biggest craft brewery by the end of 2035.
