Man airlifted to hospital after four-vehicle crash on the A64

A man has been seriously injured in a four-vehicle crash this afternoon (Friday).

Emergency services were called to the collision on the A64 at Huttons Ambo near Malton at 3.38pm.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said the crash involved “a BMW which collided with a lorry, then a VW and finally a Ford Ranger”.

The Volkswagen came to rest in a ditch.

Firefighters from Malton, Huntington and Pickering went to the incident, where they found one man trapped in the BMW.

He was extricated by fire crews and taken to hospital by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance with serious injuries.

A woman in the BMW was out on arrival “and appeared uninjured”.

A man in the VW was bruised, and a Yorkshire terrier dog in the same car appeared unhurt. A man in the Ford wasn’t hurt.

The fire service spokesperson added: “The fire crew administered first aid until the arrival of the ambulance.

“The incident was left in the hands of police.”

The road has been closed for more than two hours as police work at the scene.
