Lorry crashes into vehicle parked in village – then drives off

Police are appealing for witnesses after a hit-and-run in a Ryedale village.

An HGV travelling through Scragglethorpe hit a parked blue vehicle causing substantial damage.

It happened at 6.15am on Monday (22 September). The lorry failed to stop.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “CCTV has been obtained – however at this time we are unable to Identify the vehicle.

“The CCTV shows a car following the HGV and we urge you to make contact with us to help with our enquires.

“We’re appealing for any witnesses to the collision, anyone who may have seen the vehicles prior to the collision, or anyone with relevant dashcam footage, to contact us.”
