Householder uses garden hose to put out fire at their home near Selby

A resident went into action after fire broke out in their home north of Selby.

Firefighters were called to the incident in Lordship Lane, Wistow, at 7.53am today

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “On arrival of crews, the fire had been extinguished by the occupant using a garden hose.

“The fire resulted in significant damage to furniture within the room.

“Crews checked for fire spread using small tools and a thermal imaging camera and provided first aid assistance to the occupant until the arrival of ambulance crews.”
