Have your say on new hotel, homes, shops and offices planned for York Central

The next stage of the huge York Central development is imminent – and the people behind it are inviting people to have their say.

This phase of delivery will include a range of new homes, at least 20% of which will be affordable, office and retail space, a hotel and a new western station entrance.

There will also be a public park and public realm, within the parameters of the outline planning permission granted in 2019.

As part of the consultation process strategic development partners McLaren Regeneration and Arlington Real Estate will be holding a drop-in event at the National Railway Museum on Monday 6 October between 2pm and 7pm.

They will explain more details about the project, and answer questions. Everyone is welcome.

They will also be hosting all the consultation material on the York Central website from the same date, giving people the ability to submit their feedback online.

The ongoing community engagement programme has already seen two community drop-in sessions earlier this year, attendance at several ward council meetings, as well as close liaison with groups including the York Access Forum and York Civic Trust.

Managing director of McLaren Regeneration Tom Gilman said: “Engaging with the local community has always been important to us and we would encourage as many people as possible to take part in this latest round of consultation to find out more about our plans for this first phase of delivery at York Central.

“This process follows previously well attended and encouraging drop-in sessions that we held earlier this year, as we make progress on delivering this brand-new city quarter for York.”

York Central has the potential to generate 6,500 jobs and grow York’s future economy by 20%, by adding £1.16bn to the city.

Partners include Homes England, Network Rail, City of York Council and the National Railway Museum.
