A former York city centre bookmakers would become a cake shop under plans just lodged.
The change would be on Piccadilly, and revive the now empty unit that used to house William Hill.
It’s between Ladbrokes and Pepe’s Piri Piri Chicken.
Under the proposals, it would become a brance of Eggfree Cake Box.
The company opened its first shop in 2008. It now has more than 250 locations, and the new York branch would be one of many it plans to open this year.

The founders of Eggfree Cake Box follow a strict lacto vegetarian diet, and that is how they came up with idea for the company.
The website says: “While all of our cakes are eggfree, you really can’t taste the difference, meaning that it is a safe choice for a party where you are not sure if anybody has any egg allergies.”
It makes and sells personalised birthday cakes, cupcakes, cheesecakes and other treats.
They say: “Each day, over 1,000 cake makers descend on Cake Box stores nationwide to make fresh cakes for thousands of people across the UK. Each cake is made fresh in-store with loving care by our expert cake makers and decorators.”
The planning application is for a new fascia on the front of 13a Piccadilly. “A cake shop counter and display fridges will front the store with preparation areas behind a wall,” documents state.
