There are five flood warnings still in place this afternoon as York and North Yorkshire recover from Storm Darragh.
Eight flood alerts have also been issued by the Environment Agency.
The good news is, more settled but cooler conditions will greet our region as the clean-up operation from the storm gets underway.
Here are the flood warnings, meaning ‘flooding is expected’:
- River Ouse at York – riverside properties
- River Derwent at Buttercrambe Mill
- River Derwent at Old Malton
- River Derwent at Stamford Bridge – The Weir Caravan Park and Kexby Bridge
- River Seven at Marton
The River Ouse at the Viking Recorder peaked at 3.02m at 9am this morning.
And here are the flood warnings, meaning ‘flooding is possible’:
- Lower River Derwent
- Osbaldwick Beck and Tanghall Beck
- Pickering Beck and Costa Beck catchments
- River Foulness and Market Weighton catchment
- River Rye catchment
- River Seven catchment
- Upper River Derwent
- Upper River Ouse.
Fourteen flood warnings have been removed today.
Some properties were flooded near Kirbymoorside from the River Dove over the weekend.
To support people affected, North Yorkshire Council and Kirkbymoorside Town Council set up a local assistance centre.
This is at The Moorside Rooms, Church Street, Kirkbymoorside. This will give people an opportunity to get support face-to-face in their local area. Council staff continue to be in the area to speak to residents and ensure they have the help they need.
At Malton and Norton, a number of pumps have been deployed in case river levels continue to rise. Although disruption is not expected in these towns, pumps have been put in place as a precaution.

The weather has now settled down, and there will even be sunny intervals this morning.
Met Office meteorologist Liam Eslick said: “Storm Darragh has now moved its way off towards the south east, so things are going to start to settle down over the next couple of days.”
