Two crashes caused problems in North Yorkshire this afternoon.
Drivers were urged to avoid both the A170 at Helmsley and the A63 Selby bypass.
North Yorkshire Police said this about the Ryedale incident at 3.25pm: “Bondgate Road, Helmsley (A170) is currently closed due to an ongoing traffic incident.

“Please avoid the area and seek alternative routes around Helmsley. This will help us as manage the incident and traffic safely.”
The A170 is now back open.
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was called to the Selby crash. It was on the A63 near the junction with East Common Lane.
It caused tailbacks on the A63 and A19, exacerbating problems caused by the temporary closure of Selby toll bridge.

The second of three planned closures of the toll bridge runs to this Friday to enable repairs.
This crash has also been cleared.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews from Acomb and York responded to a report of a two-vehicle road traffic collision.
“On arrival of the crew a person remained in their vehicle. Paramedics supported the person out of the vehicle while crews stood by.
“Crews made the scene safe and handed the incident over to the police.”
