Car crashes into house in York – Driver arrested

There was a crash in a York suburb late last night (Sunday).

It happened on Garfield Terrace, off Water End, at 11.26pm.

A car had hit the corner of the house and emergency services were called to the scene.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “At 11.20pm on Sunday, it was reported to us that a car had collided with a building on Garfield Street in York.

“A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, and he was taken to hospital prior to going to custody for a medical check. No serious injuries have been reported.”

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Police requested the fire service for scene safety following a car hitting a the corner of a house.

“Fire crews made the scene safe and awaited the arrival of police to question the driver, who was out of the car and identified by members of the public.”
