Biker who collided with lamppost in York has died

A motorcyclist who crashed into a lamppost and a road sign in York has died of his injuries.

The 30-year-old biker suffered serious head injuries in the crash at about 8.16pm on Monday 21 August on York Road, Haxby.

Today, North Yorkshire Police issued this update: “Sadly, the 30-year-old motorcylist involved in this collision has since died in hospital.

Where the crash happened

“His family have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.

“Officers continue to appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who has CCTV or doorbell footage of the vehicle prior to the collision to come forward.”

The man was riding a red Honda CBR motorbike, and was taken to Hull Royal infirmary by ambulance after the crash.

The stretch of road was closed for several hours while officers investigated the scene and the vehicle was recovered.
