Two due at court in connection with attempted murder investigation

Two people are due to appear at York Magistrates’ Court this morning (Tuesday) in connection with an attempted murder investigation in Ripon. 

The victim, a teenage boy, was reportedly run over by a blue VW Polo car when it mounted the kerb on Sunday evening (9 March) on King Edward Road. 

While the victim was on the floor with a severe leg injury, it was said that he was then further assaulted and struck with a weapon.

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, as well as grievous bodily harm with intent.

A 21-year-old man has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of a weapon designed or adapted for the discharge of an electric shock.

Following the incident, the victim was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment to a broken ankle.
