Traffic warden assaulted in York after issuing a parking ticket

A traffic warden was assaulted after handing out a parking ticket to a van in York city centre.

The incident took place at approximately 9:15 am on Tuesday 25 March, in Goodramgate.

The civil enforcement officer issued a white transit van a penalty charge notice (PCN) for parking on double yellow lines, and was pushed because of it.

Police officers are appealing for witnesses following the assault.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We’re particularly appealing to anyone who witnessed the assault, or have any CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident.”
