‘Scott Put’, North Yorkshire’s star shot putter, in Olympic action for Team GB tonight

Set your alarms – Scott Lincoln, the six-time British champion, will be on our screens at the Olympics tonight from 7.10pm.

This will be the Northallerton-born athlete’s second time competing in the Olympic Games, after trading in his bricklaying career for a debut in Tokyo.

Finishing 28th in 2021, Lincoln – known as ‘Scott Put’ – has picked an array of medals since. He won Commonwealth bronze at Birmingham in 2022, as well as a bronze at the 2023 European Games, and his Paris spot was secured with his tenth successive UK title in Manchester.

Revealing his anticipation for the games, Scott Lincoln said: “I’m in great shape this year so I’m just excited to go out there and see what I can do, heading towards that final hopefully.

“That’s the main aim, to get into the final to start with and as close to the top five finish as possible.”

Scott joined the YorkMix team to row with us in the York Dragon Boat Challenge in 2021 too, and he’s a terrific chap as well as an awesome athlete.

We’re all behind you, Scott!
