Resident treated by paramedics after fire in York home

Two crews were called to a fire in a York home last night (Tuesday).

As the incident took place while ten crews were tackling the Strensall Common fire, firefighters from Selby and Easingwold went to the incident on Swann Street at 7.25pm.

There was a fire in the kitchen on the first floor of a three storey property.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The fire caused 100% damage to food contents and 30% smoke damage to the kitchen.

“Crews isolated the gas to the cooker and used a positive pressure ventilation fan to ventilate the property. The occupier recieved a precautionary check by paramedics on scene.
